This work dwells on that ambiguous space between science and art, imagined reality and observed reality. For this work I interact directly with botanical life forms, the rare, common, grotesque and beautiful forms of nature.

After collecting a wide variety of botanical specimens that are available in Venezuela, I combined different elements of plants to create an hybrid organism. Flowers, fruits, roots and tubercles bloom as if following a natural fusion. This new organism is scientifically accurate in terms of structure and representation yet it is fictitious.

My prior body of work explored similar territories. My last series treated medical images of human body anomalies as art objects or ornamental items; questioning the distinctions between reality and fiction that we respond to.

Working in the traditional methods of scientific illustration I have composed a catalogue of a hybrid plant world that is in constant metamorphosis, adapting and being altered according to their own internal and external necessities.

In the scientific realm, as the rate of genetic modification accelerates, and the boundary of form and function blurs, these hybrid organisms becomes more of a possibility of what could be.

This work is intended to exist in both scientific and artistic environments.
